Cutting and slicing vegetables &c. - In a machine for, cutting-up cabbages, turnips, &c., a hand-actuated plunger 15 presses the materials on to vertical knives 18 on a spider 17 carried by a hopper 2, which is hinged at one side 3, and subsequently on to a rotating disk 6 carrying knives 7. The cut material passes away by a shoot 21 to an opening 22 in the frame. The shaft 4 on which the disk 6 is mounted may be driven by toothed, bevel, or wedge-friction gear.
