Abstract

1676. Browne, G. W. Jan. 21. Rests, arm.-Turn-up arm-rests for railwaycarriage, char-a-banc, and other vehicle seats are slidably mounted to render them laterally adjustable. The arm-rest, Fig. 4, is mounted on a block c, slidably carried on a rail d, and can be secured in position by a removable pin g engaging one of the holes f, or the rail may be provided with a rack h, Fig. 6, with which engages a spring-pressed bolt i on the block c. In the modification shown in Fig. 7, the rest is pivoted at l to the two-armed lever m<1>, slidably mounted on a rod s, and is held in position by a projection n which engages one of a series of holes in the cross rail q. The arm-rest itself may be made in two separate parts a, b, as shown in Fig. 4.
