Abstract

215,604. Brandt, F. E. June 6, 1923. Seat adjustments. - A chair is provided with means for locking the back in various adjusted positions and for allowing it to be moved into a horizontal position. The back-frame A is fitted with bars B pivoted at C to the seat, as described in Specification 178,712, and is connected to the uprights E by springs D. The rear end of each spring is connected to a hook H engaging angled slots J in the bar B so as to admit of ready detachment. The back is locked in its adjusted position by the engagement of a fixed tooth M with a rack K which is pivoted to the back and constrained by a spring U. The rack is raised to free the back by means of a lever R acting on a crank 0 embracing the rack and fitted with a roller P. A spring T returns the lever R to its operative position.
