Abstract

1320. Marks, E. C. R., [Hayes, J. A. J.]. Jan. 16. Damping-apparatus for lithographic machines; transferring designs. - In lithographic and transfer machines comprising one or more printing or design-receiving cylinders each of which has an unbroken continuous surface, the damping of the cylinders is effected by water contained in open troughs arranged below the cylinders. Each cylinder a runs in an open trough b containing water which may be changed continuously by any suitable means. Excess moisture may be removed by a roller or pad. The damping may be effected between the inking and printing operations as shown at the left of the Figure. Specification 15,189/91 is referred to.
