Abstract

191,258. Caley, E. C., Rodmell, H., and Wray, C. C. Dec. 10, 1921. Seat adjustments; fixing furniture to floors.-Relates to means for adjusting the inclination with relation to the floor of tip-up or other chairs or seats having metal frames or sides. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the frame A is formed with a forked bottom, the front limb a of which is pivoted to or between the upright or uprights b of a plate B fixed to the floor, while the back limb a<1> is adjustably fixed to or between the upright or uprights b<1> at the rear end of the plate B. The uprights are provided with slots b<3> and have one side serrated, corresponding serrations being provided on a washer E, so that the frame A is securely fixed by a bolt F passing through the washer E, upright b<1> and limb a<1>. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the washer E is dispensed with, the engaging serrations being formed on the upright b' and the limb a<1>. When two uprights b<1> are formed in the plate B, the bolt F presses the serrations into engagement with the serrations on the limb a<1> between the uprights. The slots b<3> may be provided in the limb a<1> instead of in the uprights.
