Abstract

29,864. Steel, Peech, & Tozer, and Bowen, H. E. Dec. 28. Transferring by suspended electro-magnets and portable shoots.-Comprises means for transferring scrap-iron from a railway vehicle F to a series of boxes H carried upon bogies G. Suspended from the travelling crane A is an electromagnet B, which lifts a charge from the vehicle F and dumps it upon a shoot C and into the first box I. The magnet is then lowered on to the shoot and is energized; it adheres to the shoot, which is in the form of a bridge travelling upon rails, and draws it over the next box.
