Abstract

Clarifying beverages.-In conditioning beer &c. by retaining it under a constant gas pressure, which is retained during drawing-off, the solid matters that rise to the surface with the bubbles or froth are trapped to prevent their return to the beer. The barrels 2 are connected by pipes 4, 5, with a distributing- pipe 3 connected to a gas-holder. The pipes 4, 5 are connected together by flat glass vessels 6, which retain the solid matters which rise with the liquid into them. Box traps or U-tubes may be used in place of the vessels 6.
