Buoys. - A buoy in which a person can stand comprises a central cylinder a surrounded by a number of water-tight compartments b enclosed within an outer cylinder a<1>. The upper compartments b<1> may be used for storing food &c., and one of them may contain a pump for removing water from the interior of the buoy. The lower compartments b' contain ballast which may consist of water admitted through holes b<4>. At the upper end of the cylinder a is a waterproof sleeve e which can be drawn tightly around the person. A life-belt h may be detachably fastened to the buoy by the clips g, which may also be used for lowering the buoy overboard.
