Abstract

25,070. Restucci, G. Nov. 1. Sliding window and electric opening and closing apparatus.-Relates to apparatus in which a shaft 5, carrying pinions 7 engaging racks on the sashes, is driven by a worm 12 engaging a worm-wheel 11 on the shaft 5. According to the present invention, the worm is driven by an endless chain 19 passing over a pulley 17 on the worm shaft and over a tension pulley 20 mounted on a cranked shaft 21 working under the action of a spring 23 in a cylinder 22. The upper and lower sashes are operated independently. The sashes may be electrically operated, as shown in Fig. 3. The worm 29 is formed on the shaft of a motor 30 and engages a worm-wheel 28 loosely mounted on the shaft 24 and formed with a friction cone 27 which is pressed, by means of a spring 28<1>, into engagement with a hollow cone 27<1> fixed on the shaft 24. The motor is operated by a switch 32.
