Abstract
23,470. Wagon, A. F. A. Oct. 14. Variable-speed toothed gearing.-In continuously-variable speed gearing of the kind in which a disk or cone carrying teeth gears with a toothed pinion capable of being slid across the face of the disk or cone, the teeth on the disk &c. are arranged in concentric rings and are shaped as shown in Fig. 4, while the teeth on the pinion are of the forms shown in Figs. 5, 6, and 7, so arranged as to remain always in gear as the pinion is shifted. Teeth of the forms shown in Figs. 5, 6, and 7 may also be used on the wheel. Several pinions may be used with one disk, or an arrangement as shown in Fig. 3, for a greater reduction of speed.
