Safety-valves.-A safety-valve of the type provided with both a direct and auxiliary valve control comprises a main lift valve I secured to a spindle 0 provided with a piston S and loaded by a spring Y adjusted by a screw h. A similarly-arranged auxiliary valve H has a lighter load, and the seat J is provided with a chamber L, with a pipe E<1> leading to the space below the piston S, the space above the piston communicating with the atmosphere through a passage W. In the event of the auxiliary valve sticking, the main valve acts as an auxiliary valve, being provided with a chambered seat and pipe connexion F' leading to the space below the piston R for that purpose. The pipes E<1>, F<1> are fitted with screw baffles, and both valve spindles are connected to an easing- lever s.
