112,575. Cockburns, Ltd., Cockburn, D., and MacNicoll, D. May 21. 1917. Safety-valves.-A safety-valve of the kind fitted with a piston of larger area than the valve member arranged on the outlet side of the valve and having a lost-motion connexion with the valve spindle, has the piston arranged to work in a cylinder formed in a two-part cage member which also carries the valve seat. The piston 2 is slidably mounted on the spindle 1 and is adapted to engage a collar 7 which also forms an abutment for the spring 8. The lower part 10 of the cage member carries the seat 3 and is provided with ports 13, while the upper part, which houses the piston, has an upstanding flange 16 adapted to pass well into the cover 11 so as to deflect condensation water through the ports 15. The cage member is held in position by the same bolts as are used to secure the cover 11.
