Abstract

7163. Guthrie, D. March 22. Safety-valves; repairing valves. - A deadweight loaded safety-valve c for use in hotwater systems is fitted with a spring - pressed auxiliary valve c to facilitate repairs. The valves are mounted on a common three - part spindle c<1>, e<1>, g<1> so that each valve is differentially loaded by the dead-weight h and spring d. The auxiliary valve is normally held away from its seat by a shoulder m engaging the bonnet f, which is screwed on to the upper part of the main valve casing. A tray i, having a drain-pipe i<1>, is secured between the two parts a, a' of the casing to collect and discharge the escaping water.
