Abstract

Circular machines; parallel machines.-Sliders for actuating double-ended needles in machines of the type described in Specification 15,008/00 or flat machines, are caused to engage and disengage their needles automatically without the help of any special cam. The needle-engaging noses 1 are placed on spring blades 2, which, when free of the tricks 6, stand away from the latch-guard portion 3 of the slider, and so become disengaged from the needles. When the sliders are drawn into the tricks, the noses 1 come into contact with bevelled portions 8 of the tricks and are brought into line, thus engaging the adjacent needles. In another form, the needle engaging nose 1 is formed on a spring blade 9, Figs. 4 and 5, forming part of the main body of the slider 4.
