Abstract

20,836. Smith, F. H. Sept. 12. Pins, dress and like, kinds of.-Relates to hat-pins of the kind terminating in a flexible spring and sliding in a pointed sheath, and consists in the provision of means for limiting the movement and preventing the complete withdrawal of the pin. The means may comprise an indentation c<2> in the sheath engaging with a slot in the pin, or a projection a<3> on the pin protruding through a closed slot in the sheath. The Provisional Specification also states that the inner portion or pin proper is made from one piece of metal, the end of which is flattened and then tempered.
