A bracelet clasp of the type in which a connecting link 18 is detachably engaged by a lateral sliding movement into a transverse opening 16 at one end of the clasp where it is retained by a cap 20 hinged to the other end of the clasp, has spring means 30 for exerting a resilient pressure against a side of the connecting link 18 so as frictionally to hold the link in position and prevent its readily sliding out of the clasp opening when the cap is in a raised position. As shown the clasp has an elongated hollow body 10, the top and bottom walls 11, 12 of which are curved towards each other to provide a transverse end slot 14. The side wall of the body adjacent the slot 14 has the opening 16 for a loop or eye 17 on the connecting link 18. A hinge pin 19 for the cap extends between the side walls of the body 10 at the other end and the cap is of channelled section so that it embraces the body and partially masks the opening 16 when in its fastening position. The clasp is provided with a longitudinal slide 22 the top and bottom walls 23, 24 of which are in sliding engagement with the walls 11 and 12 of the body, the slide being provided with a loop 26 for connection to a bracelet and which protrudes from the body adjacent the hinge pin 19. The spring means 30 is a U-shaped spring strip the base of which lies against the hinge pin 19 and the arms of which are bent laterally to bear against the side of the loop or eye 17. A helical spring 28 is provided for biasing the slide 22 and this is positioned between one end of the slide and the base of the spring means 30.
