equipped to take u stunde-.rd nintle, und e hooked foi-Ward end 3, the end ot the hook provided with e recess 4.-.
The inein body portion ol" the pintle has an upwardly eilteiuling` portion 5 bored lonijitudinelly and having a 'longitudinal .g'i'ooye 5n coinnunicatii with the bote its louer portion end longitudinal slot 5b r inniunicnting with the bore et the top thereof.
A latch G is mounted for reciprocatory nioveinent longitudinally of the bore and is oiined with e depending rib to fit into the groove 5 having' a nose 6a adopted to sent in the recess 4l When the latch is in its torimid or cl sed position.) o bui'rel Gb for engeo'enient With the bore? on upstonding rib 6 ijoi engagement in the slot and a knurled heno engaging portion Gd by which the latch y manually forced to its reorinost poi on.
The latch ineinber 6 is provided with socket opening1 fit iezii fece in which is seated the for ard end of a resilient elenient, such e.. the coiled spring 7 housed in the boite and having; its end seated in e soclzet orined in a screw plug 8 by Ineens ot' which the rear end otq tie bore is closed and through -which the spring is tensioned. The plug may be locked in piece, it desired,V bye pin 9 positioned in en aperture orined transversely of the portion 5 und coninfiunieating,` with the bore near its rear end.
l elaine.:
l. l pintle. including` u body 'foi-ined with edueed headed snnnli et its iee. end; e. l: ts forward end, the end 4of the 1 nroyided with :i recess; an uoweidly ndinggv portion provided with a longituil boren longitudinal groove coininuniwith the bottom of the bore and a dinul slot communicating With the tog of the bore; u latch ineinber reciprocal in theY bore :ind having lov-weix and uppei ribs to engage the groove and slot, respectively, ed a nose lor e rage-nient with the recess; spring housed in the bore and normally holding the latch in its forward position and means for closing the rear end of the bore and tensioning the spring.
2. A pintle, including` a body formed with a reduced headed shank at its rear end; a hook at its forward end, the end of the hook provided with a recess; an upwardly eX- tending portion provided with a longitudinal bore, a longitudinal groove communicating with the bottom of the bore and a loni0 gitudinal slot communicating with the Jop of the bore; a latch member reciprocal in the bore and having lower and upper ribs to engage the groove and slot respectively, and
yieldalole means for normally holding the 15 latch member in forward position.
