This invention relates to snap-hooks and more particularly to an improved construction for the same whereby the different parts may be easily assembled and placed in operative position and which will eliminate the possibility of injured parts making the snap-hook permanently defective.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a snap-hook of this character having the body portion adapted to receive the sliding bolt in the usual 'manner, the
proved construction being in the particular manner by which the bolt is placed into operative position; the manner in which the bolt is resiliently held within its position; and the simplicity of the construction for permittting repairing of the parts should they become defective.
A further object of this invention is the provision of a snap-hook which consists of comparatively few parts and is simple in construction, but durable and well adapted to withstand the rough usage to whichde vices of this character are ordinarily sub jected.
For a full description of the invention and the advantages and merits thereof, reference i to be had to the following description and the accompanying drawings, wherein is illustrated the preferred form of my invention, in which;

The filler arm 13 has a lug 15 through which a pin or rivet 16 is extended and the ends of this rivet are received in apertured lugs 17 disposed at opposite sides of the slot near the end thereof. This rivet is thereby made, to hold the filler, arm 18 removably in position in the sloti Sufiicient space is left between the end of the filler arm and the neck 10 to permit the latter to be moved for opening the gap 6 when the bolt is moved to open positlon. It will be noted that this rearward movement of the bolt causes the spring to compress and the same bears against the plate 12, but no pivotal action of the filler arm can occur since the end of the same is slightly extended over the proXimate end of the bolt 8 as shown to advantage in Fig. 2, the length of the bolt being greater than the distance between the bill or" the hook and the inner end or arm 13.
T iis simple and durable construction provides an etficient snap-hook and it is to be noted that by simply removing the pin 16, all of the working parts may be quickly dismantl d. This is especially advantageous who mvy snap-hooks are used for heavy work such as drawing heavy loads where the parts buckle and bend and become quickly detective. in this event any one of the simple parts may be quickly replaced by simply removing the pin 16 and replacing the injured part after which the pin may be replaced and the hook will be as strong as ever.
From the foregoing it will be observed that a very simple and durable snap-hook has been provided, the details of which embody the preferred form. I desire it to be understood, however, that slight changes in the minor details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the claim hereunto appended.
Claims:
1. In a snap hook, the combination of a barrel having a hook formed at one end anda loop formed at its other end, said barrel having a longitudinal bore opening through the ends thereof, a bolt mounted to slide within the barrel and to engage the bill of the hook for closing the hook, a closure plate mounted over the rear end of the barrel for closing the bore thereof, a coiled spring mounted in said bore between said bolt and plate for projecting the bolt, and means for removably securing saidclosure plate in operative position/ 2.
