20,166. Harms [nÚe Schmidt], L. Sept. 4. Transporting boats across ship's decks; chocks. -I-section rails bare arranged in pairs athwartship. The lower flanges of the rails are provided with racks c with which gear pinions d carried by the boat chocks g. The boats are run to the ship's side and lowered by the davits, and the chocks are dismounted to make way for the next boat by withdrawing a pin h which connects the pinions d and works in a longitudinal slot in the rail. Brakes f are provided on the chocks.
