Abstract

118,002. Vickery, J. F. Sept. 22, 1917. Addition to 11450/12. Boat-launching apparatus. -A combination of ships' fittings for launching boats comprises a series of rail tracks B on the deck provided with points G and turn tables and leading to balanced railed slipways CC supported at their outer ends by floats or pontoons EE. The slipways are arranged to launch the boats in a fore and aft direction as well as at right-angles thereto. The rail tracks are fitted with side rails adapted to be engaged by small auxiliary wheels or rollers on the boat to steady the same in a sea-way. The boat decks may be connected to the slipways by means of inclined railways, and emergency exits may be provided fore and aft to allow the boats to float away in the event of the vessel sinking bow or stern first.
