Transporting boats across ship decks.-The construction of revolving contact balls in the fenders described in Specifications 2973/13 and 2483/14, [both in Class 113 (i), Ship and boat fittings &c.], is utilized for castors to traverse life-boats on the decks of ships. The revolving balls C are attached to the keel of the boat by means of stirrup pieces E. In addition, hinged extensions G, secured in the lower of the two operative positions by ties H, carry similar castors and are used in conjunction with the castors on the keel for moving the boat about the ship's deck. The lowering-gear described in Specification 9606/13 is utilized for moving the boats on deck. Fair-lead rollers U are utilized on the davits S and are constructed as described in Specification 20,514/13.
