Abstract

23,094. Davies, D. Oct. 25, 1912, [Convention date]. Life-boats; sectional vessels ; boats convertible into deck seats. - Life-boats are made in two longitudinal half-sections which can be used separately as deck-seats. Each section has provision and water tanks 1, 2, and air - tight buoyancy tanks 3, 4, and is constructed of metal ribs 5 and steel plates. The keel plate 7 and stem plates 9 of one half are provided with angleirons 12, 13, Fig. 4, to hold a strip 14 of indiarubber to make a watertight joint. The two halves are fastened together by screw bolts 16 pivoted to one half, engaging recesses 15 in both halves and retained by hooks 20. Antifriction castors 21, shackles 23, rowlocks 24, removable transvose seats, and a rudder may be provided. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 8304/87.
