[Cognate Application, 26,787/12.] Wheel guards and obstruction - removers. -A wheel guard is adapted to protect the front or rear wheels of motor-vehicles, and, when fitted at the front is arranged to move with the steering-wheels. The guard may have side parts supported partly by the wheel hubs, and may be made in several parts detachably secured together. Where an additional wheel is used, the guard may be extended laterally by lazy-tongs s as shown in Fig. 7, or it may be made telescopic. The guard is carried by an arm l pivoted at m to a stirrup carried by the axle o and connected by a slotted connexion q to the steering-rod e so as to move the guard with the wheels. The extensions h are hinged to the front part and are threaded over the axles, being held by a nut k and an interposed spring which allows play of the parts h on the axle. According to the Provisional Specification, the guard may be formed to act as a radiator.
