Abstract
15,094. Terry, A. V. June 23. [Cognate Application, 22,957/10.] Wheel guards.-A guard for motor and other road vehicles is arranged in front of the wheels to remove small stones &c. likely to damage or puncture the tyres, and is adapted to yield to large objects. As applied to the front wheels of motor cars, a stay b is screwed to the steering-rod which is connected with the stub axle c. A telescopic bracket E, secured to the arm b, has a telescopic forwardly extending arm F hinged to it, the joint being enlarged at h<2> to give a large bearing-surface. The hinge allows the guard to mount large objects. The guard, which may comprise a detachable brush l, is hinged to an oblique arm k, so that objects are swept outwardly. The hinges at h<2> and k may be spring controlled. The brush may be made adjustable as regards height above the road. Small wheels of fibre may be placed on each side of the guard.
