Abstract

13,211. Schwarz, C. L. June 5. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and metal springs other than helical and volute springs.-Looped blade spring spokes directly connecting the hub and rim are combined with spring arms, slidingly fitted thereto, which bear with their inner overlapping ends on the hub. The spokes are grouped in pairs, the pear-shaped members of which, 14, 15, Figs. 1 and 7, are formed with overlapping extensions 16, 17 of different length and secured to the rim by pivoted stirrups 21 allowing some relative movement. The inner ends are fitted around blocks 9. of w o o d covered with metal 10, which are held on bolts passing through the hub flanges. The spring arms 23, Fig. 4, have overlapping curved ends 24 bearing on the hub. Near their outer ends they are formed with pairs of projections 27 which hold clips 25 securing the arms between all the spoke-members so as to allow relative movement.
