117,698. Woosnam, A., (Ackerman Wheel Co.). Aug. 7, 1917. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring a n d metal springs other than helical and volute springs. -Plate springs E, F arranged in pairs have their inner straight ends secured in slots in a hub sleeve 14, the outer ends being looped over pivot bolts C arranged, on rim brackets 3, radially opposite the hub slots. The springs are tensioned by constraint in assemblage, and are of gradually decreasing thickness and increased temper from the ends to the part 20. To prevent wear, the bolts C are fitted with flanged bushes 9 - - 12. At the hub, the facing edges of each pair of springs E, F are formed with projections 22 to afford the clearance 24, the outer edges being notched at 23 to receive the ribs 25 on the hub flanges G, H.
