Latches, preventing operation of.-Within a casing 10 secured to the face of the door is mounted a sliding plate 23, which is slotted at one end 24 and is adapted to engage the handle spindle 37 of the latch to secure this against operation. The plate 23 is actuated by a knob 28 which, under the action of a spring, is drawn into an enlargement 27 of the slot 26 in the casing 10, so that the plate is secured at each end of its stroke. Keyholes, obstructing. -Within the same casing 10 is arranged a second plate 44, of similar construction to the plate 23 and adapted to engage the key 49 of the lock, to prevent this from being turned or forced out of the keyhole.
