18,182. Blum, F. Aug. 6. Keyholes, obstructing; latches, sliding.-A keyhole-closing device is combined with means for locking the latch bolt against operation. A plate d is located within the casing adjacent to the exterior wall, and is secured to the knob spindle b of the latch mechanism in such a way that, when the latch is shot, the outside keyhole is closed. The plate d is provided with a pin or pins f adapted to receive the key inserted from inside. The key in this position prevents the plate from being moved away from the keyhole, and locks the latch bolt against operation, at the same time preventing a key from being inserted into the lock from the outside. When the inside key is not in position, the outside keyhole can be exposed by rotating the knob handle.
