Abstract

Stowing boats; boat - launching apparatus.- Apparatus for launching boats, rafts, &c. comprises an inclined deck or slipway c over which may be arranged a deck or housing f. A cradle b for the boat &c. a works on the inclined way and is furnished with upper and lower sets of rollers e, d. The boat &c. is normally held fast by hooks j, Fig. 4, taking over projections i, and operated by hydraulic cylinders k. A similar arrangement is employed to fasten the doors h which are at the outer end of the way c. These doors, and hooks are released by the action of the main lever which controls the water-tight doors of the ship. The cradle e is arrested in its outward movement by suitable stops.
