Instantaneous generators.-In a gas-producer plant, the hot gases from the producer A pass by a pipe c around a hollow spiral baffle h, which acts as a steam-generator, and also throws out the dust in the gases by centrifugal force. Water is supplied to the hollow spiral by a pipe l, and, in one arrangement, the steam passes by a pipe n to a superheating space a before being delivered by a pipe b below the grate. In another arrangement the steam generated in the middle baffle is supplied to a separate superheater, on the gas pipe leading to the washer, which also assists in heating the air supplied to the producer, the air and steam being further superheated in an annular space surrounding the pipe containing the spiral baffle.
