Abstract

1606. Sisson, W. Jan. 20. Compound and multiple-expansion engines.- In engines having cylinders side by side, the distribution of steam to the high-pressure and next stage cylinders is controlled by separate valves A, B linked together and actuated by the eccentric of an automatic expansion crankshaft governor. In the arrangement shown, both valves have inside admission and are arranged one on each side of the longitudinal plane of the engine with the intermediate receiver G between them to reduce the distance between the cylinder axes.
