Abstract

Engines with two or more parallel cylinders with axes perpendicular to main shaft.-In fourcylinder engines of the type shown in Fig. 1 sufficient space is left between the adjacent open ends of the cylinders to facilitate the withdrawal of the pistons. The pistons are secured by bolts V to a common cross-head actuating the crank-shaft through a pair of return connecting-rods.
