11,952. Watkins, G. St. B. S. Aug. 18. Four-stroke-cycle engines.-A super-compression engine draws a charge from the carburettor into the space below the piston past a throttle valve G<3>, by which it may be regulated or entirely cut off. The charge is compressed into a reservoir and conveyed by a pipe J to the combustion chamber, where it supplements the charge drawn in on the suction stroke from the induction pipe D. A gudgeon K passes through the walls of the cylinder and is attached to side connecting-rods L.
