Abstract

1559. South Metropolitan Gas Co., and Chandler, D. Jan. 19. Atmospheric gas burners. -- An atmospheric burner, in which the gas and. air are given a rotary motion which is maintained to the point of ignition, comprises a conical chamber c, into which the combustible mixture is admitted tangentially by a pipe e, and from which it issues by a tube b inserted into the base of the cone and projecting into the chamber. The burner head a is attached to this tube so that the mixture in the chamber becomes heated. A deflector d protects the base and the chamber from excessive heat.
