Abstract

4931. Morton, J. W. March 9. Spray burners; atmospheric vapour burners. -Spray or vapour from a liquid-fuel burner enters a bent or spiral passage A, of fireclay or other material, to which air is admitted from an annular passage B provided with inlet holes E, F at the outer end, and is partly ignited, thus rendering the passage incandescent. A solid or perforated baffle-plate C, which may be smooth or corrugated or provided with external projections, is fitted at the outlet end of the passage so as to distribute the flame. The form of the passage is stated to break up the particles of fuel and to ensure thorough burning.
