Incandescent gas and vapour burners.-An inverted incandescent gas or vapour burner comprises a short burner tube a of large diameter, a mixing-tube e depending centrally within the burner tube, and a burner tube bottom formed with a closed central portion b and outlet apertures i surrounding the portion b leading into the mantle, a wad b<1> extending upwards from the burner tube bottom between the closed portion and the surrounding apertures. The wall b' may be slotted as shown, and the mixed gases are heated by contact with the burner bottom and the wall b' before issuing from the apertures i. The closed portion b may project into the mantle, or it may be flush, or even upwardly-projecting. The gas nipple h draws air in through a transverse tube g into which the mixing-tube may be screwed; or, as shown, the burner tube may be screwed into a cover which, with the mixing-tube, forms one piece with the tube g.
