[Addition to 24,875/08.] Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to the automatic pistol described in the parent Specification, in which the recoil spring abuts against a removable casing which surrounds the barrel and is held in place by the recoil spring. The invention consists in arrangements whereby the breech-block, casing, and recoil spring can be removed from the frame without being separated from each other. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the flat part 10, of the casing 4, resting on the top of the frame 1, is made shorter than in the construction shown in the parent Specification, so that when the casing is pulled forwards far enough to remove the sleeve portion 3 from the barrel 2, the flat portion 10 is also clear of the frame, and hence the casing can be turned sideways about the guide-rod 8 as pivot; the breech-block, casing and spring can then be removed rearwards. In the modification shown in Figs. 6 and 8, the guide-rod 8 is pivoted to the breechblock; hence when the casing is pulled forwards off the barrel, it can be turned up as shown in Fig. 8; the parts can then be removed rearwards.
