Aerial machines with aerostats; aerostats; planes, arrangement of; propelling; steering.- An air-ship comprises an aerostat of crescent shape in cross - section enclosed between two eccentrically - arranged cylindrical frameworks 12, 13, the latter of which forms an openended conduit and is provided at each end with a propeller 17 and beyond each end with a vertical rudder 18 pivoted on a central axis 19. Lifting-propellers 21, and a longitudinal keel 10 composed of laminated wood, are provided at the underside. A pair of planes pivoted on central transverse axes is provided at each side of the aerostat, and such planes are adjusted for steering vertically. The frames 12, 13 consist of rings of laminated wood connected together by longitudinal members 9 and bolted at the bottom to the keel 10. The cylindrical frameworks thus formed are covered with material, and the crescent-shaped space is filled with balloonets. The lifting-propellers 21 are enclosed in tubes 22 which communicate with vertical flues 23 extending through the aerostat. The driving and lifting propellers 17, 21 are driven by separate motors by means of bevelgearing, the shafts for the propellers 17 passing centrally through the hollow shafts of the propellers 21.
