Aerial machines with aerostats; aerostats; cars; framework; shock of landing, deadening.-A dirigible air-ship comprises a series of collapsible gas-receptacles B arranged around an inspection flue K and within sheeting C secured to a platform R. The car beneath the platform is built of tubes connected by sockets so that the framework may be dismantled. Wings J, lifting-propellers L, and driving propellers M are provided. Adjustable elevators G and rudders F are fitted. The sides of the car are filled in with panels made of lengths of bamboo or tubes threaded on wires or rods, the wires &c. being detachably secured to the car frame. The machinery &c. is mounted on a platform H made in separate parts so as to be disconnectible. Buffers E and wheels D are fitted. The framework may be made of plywood. Propelling.-Eight lifting-propellers L, driven by belts from pulleys on the platform H, are provided, and three driving-propellers M are disposed at each end of the platform, the centre propellers being larger than the side propellers. Side louvered wings J operated by reciprocating slides q and links I<1>, I<2>, I<3> are hinged to the car. Steering; planes, arrangement of.-A series of elevators G, coupled together, are pivoted at the upper part of the car, stops j being arranged to limit the movement of the planes. A rudder F is placed at each end of the car. The elevators and rudders are operated either together or separately by hand-wheels and cords.
