Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, arrangement of; propelling; steering.-An aerial machine is supported by one or more propellers arranged along the centre line of the machine, each propeller comprising two planes b, b<1> normally set at opposite angles but capable of being adjusted individually by winches u to act as supporting-planes when the machine is gliding or when driven horizontally by one or more screwpropellers. The planes b, b<1> are mounted on horizontal spindles s on sleeves surrounding vertical shafts a which are driven through bevel wheels k, l from transverse shafts h geared by ropes f to the transverse shaft d of a petrol or other engine. The shafts a can be coupled to and uncoupled from the bevel-wheels l by sliding clutches operated by levers g. Floats, arrangement of.-The machine is supported on two longitudinal tubular floats of circular, elliptic, or pear-shaped section.
