Abstract
172,333. Soc. Italiana E. Breda. Dec. 4, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Propelling; steering ,balancing, and regulating altitude.-Two or more propellers are mounted coaxially and close to one another, alternate propellers revolving in reverse directions, and the line of thrust of the propellers may be variable. The propellers 10, 12 are fixed on shafts 6, 11, which are mounted on ball-bearings 13 - - 17 and connected to engines 1, 2 through gearing 3, 4 and 7, 8 respectively. The power may be derived from one or any number of engines through gearing, and an example is shown comprising four blocks of cylinders which are coaxial two by two, each pair of engines driving, through two sets of bevel gearing, a pair of coaxial propellers placed on the same side of the machine. The line of thrust may in this case be varied by worm gearing and levers.
