12,398. Bonsor, A. Nov. 17. Fats and fatty oils, extracting by pressure. Apparatus for extracting fat &c. from the cracklings of fish-frying fat &c. comprises a cylinder d provided with two pistons e, f between which the cracklings &c. are pressed. The piston f can be removed from the cylinder by withdrawing a plate h and operating a lever s. The upper lever is operated by a screw g. Part of the oil expressed passes between the pistons and the cylinder and flows out through ports and cups p<1>, p. and throngh minute passages formed by filling slots q in the wall of the cylinder with stop-pieces t held in place by pins t'. The cracklings &c. are fed from a hopper m into the cylinder through an opening which is closed during the expression by a sliding sleeve n and is opened by raising the piston e so as to lift the sleeve. The oil collects in a receiver r. The cylinder may be heated by a gas-burner o.
