Abstract
184,225. Schnieder, P. April 8, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Fats and fatty oils, extracting by pressure. Apparatus for extracting oil from seeds comprises a main hollow plunger E, a fixed piston L therein, hollow plungers G communicating through passages F with the interior of the plunger E and moving in cylinders J rigidly connected to the container H in which the plunger E moves. The interior of the plunger E and of the plungers G is in constant communication through the hollow rod C of the piston L with a source of low pressure. On connecting a chamber A to high pressure the plunger E moves into the container H and oil is expressed through the press plate K on the end of the plunger and the press plate K<1> which forms the end of the cylinder. On release of the high pressure, the low pressure within the plunger E causes the latter to withdraw. Catches M pivoted on the plunger E engage pins O on the container H so that the container is withdrawn with the plunger and the cake is allowed to fall from the plate K<1>. The lateral walls of the container H are tapered so that the cake does not adhere to the plate K, when the latter is withdrawn. When the catches M come into engagement with abutments N they are released from the pins O and the low pressure in the plungers G and cylinders J causes the container H to return to its closed position. The release of the cake from the plate K<1> is effected by a plate R forming the centre of the plate K<1> and attached to a plug Q pushed forwards by a transverse bar P which moves with the container H. Helical keys on the plug Q give a slight rotational movement to the plate R. The cover T of the container H has attached to it a filling gauge V, and the cover is moved manually or automatically to bring the gauge at the necessary times into positions in which it can be filled from a hopper W or discharged into the container H.
