Abstract
9410. Urry, G. W. April 18. Fixed - abutment type; working-fluid supply; cooling parts; packing vanes.-An internal-combustion engine having axially sliding vanes is provided with passages M in the drum and opening N in the vanes E through which the compressed gas passes from the compression space O to the explosion space G. Each vane is composed of two members sliding axially so as to open and close the passages. Fig. 6 shows a development of the passages of the engines. Fluid enters at pipe H, and is compressed into the space O, is exploded in the chamber G and is exhausted through the outlet K. The vanes are packed by' packing-pieces Y forced outwards by fluid pressure in passages X. A water jacket is provided round the firing-chamber.
