8462. Hill, A. H. April 5. Breech action, dropdown barrel. - Relates to guns in which the lock mechanism is carried by a detachable trigger-plate e fitting into the bottom strap, and consists in forming the bottom strap b with a bridge part b<1> between its front and rear portions, the top of the bridge having a screwed hole b<2> for the reception of the ordinary breech-pin c. The front of the trigger-plate e fits over lugs d on the strap, and the rear end springs into a notch f, or a separate rear fastening may be employed as shown in Fig. 7.
