Abstract

3072. Stergianopulos, D. Aug. 9, 1910, [Convention date]. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to firing-mechanism for repeating rifles, and consists in the combination of parts set out below. A double-armed lever 7, Fig. 1, forming part of the trigger 3 is pivoted to pins 10, 11 which move in opposite directions and engage, respectively, a lug 44 and a tumbler 14, Fig. 6, pivoted at 46 to a sleeve 43, Fig. 5, attached to the rear of the firing-pin, and carrying the lug 44. The tumbler is recessed at 47 to receive a spring which normally holds the tumbler in the position shown in Fig. 1. The bolt 13 is recessed to receive the tumbler 14 and the lug 44, but the wings 49 by engaging the rear of the bolt 13 hold the firing-pin in the rear position until the tumbler is elevated by the pin 11 into a recessed portion in the sleeve 43, whereupon the firing-spring projects the firing- pin forwards.
