Abstract

Breech actions, drop-down barrel.-Consists in means for attaching the lock-plates, and in means for placing the cocking-arm in its operative position when the plates are attached. A pin b, Figs. 3 and 4, grooved at one end, passes through both plates a, and is engaged by a sliding or pivoted catch c on one of the plates. In a modification, there is a catch on both plates, the pin being fixed in the stock. The rear end of the cocking-arm g, Fig. 9, is depressed, when the plates are detached, by a spring f, but a second stronger leaf-spring h is deflected, as the lock-plates are inserted, by a bevelled lug i, Fig. 10, on the plates, and raises the rear end of the cocking-arm, as shown in Fig. 9.
