Abstract

Starting-valves and starting-ports, auxiliary.-Relates to terminal-exhaust engines having auxiliary-inlet valvegear as described in Specification 15,604/09, [Class 122 (ii), Steam engine distributing and expansion valves &c.]. The auxiliary valve f', which also acts as an auxiliary exhaust valve to relieve compression, is connected to the eccentric arm t of a radial valve-gear. The auxiliary cylinder passages are normally closed by lift valves o<1> against the resistance of springs o<2> by a recessed rod 17, which is connected by a rod 18, lever q, and rod p to the main controlling-gear. A separate cut-off valve s' for the chest of the valve f<1> is provided, and is connected by rods 9, 10 to the lever q. When the link g is moved beyond the normal-running position to the points I, II, the valves s', o<1> are operated to put the auxiliary gear into action.
