Abstract

185,302. Armstrong Siddeley Motors, Ltd., and Viale, S. M. July 30, 1921. Cam gears.-In means for compensating for variations in clearance due to heat expansion in cam valve-gears wherein the fulcrum of the valve-lever is carried by a second lever connected to a compensating-link, this link is made of nickel-steel or other material of low coefficient of expansion and is attached to the cylinder head so as to be detachable therewith. The valve lever C is actuated by a rod D and has its fulcrum C<2> mounted in a lever E connected to the cylinder head by the compensating-link F. In a modification, the fulcrum E<2> of the lever E is at the opposite side of the valve stem A<2>.
