22,573. Davidson, J., and Larmuth, W. O. Oct. 13. Automatic gear.-A terminal-exhaust steamengine is provided with auxiliary exhaust piston-valves which supply steam for heating- purposes. The valves are reciprocated by an eccentric, and are adjusted angularly through a fluid-relay by the pressure in the heating- mains. The piston m of the relay is connected to a lever k on the auxiliary-exhaust valvespindle, and to a lever u pivoted on the engine frame. The valve o is connected to the piston w by rods p, t, v and levers q, s. The lever q is pivoted to a lever r connected at one end to the lever u and at the other other end to a stationary support.
